What are you going planning to read this summer, /lit/? That classic you always wanted to read? That big doorstopper that haunts you? Something from a particular list, perhaps Le Monde's top 100? Maybe you're doing Infinite Summer?

I'm going to read the Bible and history books

>> No.13132283

I'm going to power through a German edition of the Nibelungenlied.
If I have a lot of time, I might give the Tale of Genji a go. Or Three Kingdoms. Don't know.

Reading paradise lost atm
Thought about getting into Shakespeare for the first time since high school. I’m starting to get a new found appreciation for him.
Otherwise might read Cioran in French or Remembrance of things past. Maybe some Kafka or Goethe and hopefully will get myself motivated to read war and peace finally.

The tale of genji is one of my favourite book, so I recommend it. It can be a bit hard, but if you're determined it should be ok.

I'm going to read Belle Du Seigneur in french along with some Nabokov I haven't read yet, probably Ada or Ardor. I'm also going to take a look at Les Bienveillantes or Les Deux Étendards also in french after that, but I'm kind of afraid about those two, one is long and the other very disturbing.

I've got 3 tomes lined up, ready for summer; this seems to have turned into a yearly thing for me: summer hits, and I decide to read big ol' fatties. Last year I buckled down and read GR and IJ; one of them I loved, the other left a weird aftertaste. Guess which, I dare you..
So, this summer: I'm tackling The Exegesis of PKD, Secret Teachings of All Ages- Manly P. Hall, and K-punk; collected writings of Mark Fisher. Why? Because Apollo willed it.

I've got a massive to-read list, but the ones that I'll probably read over the summer are Moby Dick, Tristram Shandy, and the Innocents Abroad. Never read any of them, but what I've read in excerpts I really like.

currently about a third of the way through Cryptonomicon by neal stephenson. the plot is hella convoluted and i only can dimly fathom how the hell he's gonna end it. Love the math stuff, wish there was more crypto shit. Anathem was great for the appendices. I just got to the part where Shaftoe and Waterhouse meet each other. They are each other's perfect comedic foil. All in all, a standard Stephenson read.

I’m gonna finish Infinite Jest with the gf and keep dissecting the big book of AA with my sponsor. Hoping to conquer meth and heroin addiction and have some laughs along the way. Anyone have any books they’d recommend to a previously agnostic 19 year old who’s now trying to develop a connection with a higher power? I was raised catholic and rejected that around 12 but I’m open to returning to the church. I think my conception of God will be something a little more general than some sort of Christian-Judeo he man but I wouldn’t have any problems with that either.

Instead, I bought Pale Fire and Goodbye Columbus. That, in addition to the collection of Kafka's short stories and book 4 of Knausgaard's min kamp should keep me occupied for a bit.
