Loneliness and sociability are neither intrinsically good or bad. It's about balance. I am a very solitary individual but, every few weeks, I long for company and communication. A person needs some form of validation, either emotional, intellectual, or occupational. So don't completely isolate yourself, but don't undermine your intrinsic passions just to fit in.

People in the city are very alienated, very busy, pick on the body language of a kid reading and think right away, ‘I’m not going to bother him’.

And aloneness is healthy and normal, but loneliness is when you start to get depressed over it. We’re social beasts hardwired for at least some togetherness.

No shit I can read but I don't read 12hrs a day and those down times when I don't is just me reflecting on not having any friends or rather trying to ignore it which makes me not want to do anything at all including reading. It destroys my motivation in every sense and I end up sleeping 14 hrs or shit posting here for a bit and reading usually for 1-4 hrs

I went 3 years without any real human contact, from grade 9-11. It wasn't until 12th grade I spent time with "friends" and I really enjoyed the novelty of it. I still see them, but i find them annoying and intrusive if I see them more than once every 4 months or so. it's probably because I don't actually like them very much.

Audio-books, if im on my phone I assume its the same as reading. The plan is to hopefully talk to people more, anybody really, I've begun to engage in small talk with people on campus more I assume its for the reason you give. If you associate yourself as a lonely person and refuse invites people will associate not as a person who engages with other people but rather a person that prefers to be alone and they'll leave you that way.
