have any of you used books to attract girls? has it worked? if so, how did you bring up your vast erudition and learning in a subtle way?

>> No.13103774

My two longest relationships were with girls I attracted thanks to a common love of books.

It wasn't planned. The second one just liked my

>intelligence, nihilism and wicked sense of humor

Seriously though she liked my style and having a connection to a lot of authors was a big part of that. It's not something you bring up consciously, more like an habit, a way of thinking that color your daily behavior. I was mostly just joking around and she liked that.

With the first one it was straight up conversation about books and knowledge in general, no subtlety. Older girls care less about style and more about whether they actually enjoy your company.

First time we met we spoke from 3 am to about noon. No sexual undertones too, that only came later. Two big reasons it had such an impact on her is first she was surrounded by normies and being able to talk about literature with someone was a huge relief, and second I was ten years younger and she was surprised by my ability to keep up with her. She even said it was the first time she met someone she could actually discuss her PhD thesis on tarot cards with.

Beware bookish girls are almost always weird or unconventional one way or another, they are likely to mess you up, but at least you'll live something worth experiencing.

Reminds me of how Nietzsche said:

"The reputation,
name, and appearance, the worth, the usual measure and weight of a thing - originally almost always something mistaken and arbitrary, thrown over things like a dress and quite foreign to their nature and even to their skin - has, through the belief in it and its growth from generation to generation, slowly grown onto and into the thing and has become its very body: what started as appearance in the end nearly always becomes essence and effectively acts as its essence!"

the girl i'm seeing now likes that i read, but she hasn't heard of and isn't really interested in what i read, she reads all mystery and ya stuff published in the last 5 years. she is a practical person without a discerning artistic taste, but she is young and kind of fashy, so maybe i can make something out of her over time.
as for bringing it up, if a girl ever asks what i do for fun, i'll simply say "i read alot", and since girls are fickle they will assume you're smart from that detail alone. no need to put on a performance.

For the non-greentext, it's very hard to date someone who's borderline. She warned me up front. Every guy before me jumped ship after a couple weeks. I really liked her but eventually couldn't take it anymore. I think she's doing better now. I ran into her during my last semester, she actually apologized to me - not that she needed to.

Is anyone else attracted to watching a cute girl eat a hamburger that's too big for her to eat in a classy or graceful way

They always turn their pinkies up and try to squeeze the burger down so that they can take delicate feminine bites out of it but it's still such an inherently masculine and decadent act, taking a bite out of a big sloppy burger purely for your own pleasure at the taste of it and to satisfy your animal instincts (hunger). It's like the perfect expression of the thin veneer of feminine grace covering the tiger heart that pants beneath

>have any of you used books to attract girls? has it worked?

This one girl I liked, I claimed to have read Hermann Hesse's "The Glass Beads Game" (I've read other books, just not that one) but she soon, easily found out I hadn't. Unfettered, I changed strategies and gave her books to read, the big three winners being [1] James Thurber's "Fables For Our Time" (She was real peeved by the one fable with the moral of "Never let a nervous woman have a pistol"), [2] Olivia Judson's "Dr. Tatiana's Sex Advice to All Creation" (poorly written but great information!) and [3] John Cleland's "Fanny Hill" (She claimed all Classic English books had the same boring plot, more or less. Showed her!) Long story short, that girl is now my wife! All I can say is keep it honest and an eclectic repertoire helps.

>if so, how did you bring up your vast erudition and learning in a subtle way?

The answer is forget you ever had that thought or ever thought of yourself in that way. You'll blow damn near every relationship or pick-up attempt you have with this sort of thinking. If you do even remotely possess "erudition and learning" it will shine naturally in the subjects you actually are learned with; Try to come off as being such will guarantee that others instantly find a flaw in you (besides you coming across as a know-it-all asshole a la Theodore Evelyn "Ted" Mosby).

I'm doing my Masters at Uni in a studenty/design city. She's from a business school. We met at a social event thingy, party games related - one that involves a lot of talking. I'm a lot more involved locally now so I get to meet and talk to a lot of people I wouldn't otherwise, I have social anxiety and I don't speak the local language.
Protip: Use the "Events" tab on Facebook, start with the events related to your school/workplace, then move onto cultural events, and all sorts exhibitions, group activities, special nights at bars etc.
If you don't have Facebook, and serious distaste for alcohol, then it'll be kinda tough. Join groups/societies at your school/workplace that organize and conduct social stuff - even a music or sports club or literary club would do.
Again, if you're young (Student or in your 20s), then get involved with AIESEC / ESN / Toastmasters or something, their local chapters I mean.

Also, if you do end up going to one of these places, then do put some effort in presentation. Dress semi-formally, wear cologne, identify the important folks and try to ask them stuff. I'm really bad at small talk, so I just play an ethnographer - I just ask a bunch of questions without being obtrusive or seeming disinterested when they give detailed answers - without judgement. Also, figure out your shtick, everyone you meet would probably say that they like travel/some TV show/some popular band/Football or whatever. To make an impression, do mention some semi-obscure stuff you like, but not in an autistic fashion. Actually, it depends on the crowd you're with, but if you do manage to engage a girl - then pursue discussions outside the social activity too.
Women do like good listeners, I think everyone kinda does. And everyone likes to talk about themselves.

I texted her a few days later and she was very loquacious, gave long responses to everything I asked, but then I decided I don't give enough of a fuck about real world relationships to pursue it any further so I just stopped responding after a while. The only time I've ever been in a truly loving relationship started because I struck up a conversation with an attractive girl who was reading the course textbook for the mandatory 2nd year philosophy module (realism and normativity) in the arts and social sciences library cafe. I hadn't seen her in classes which had only been going for a month or so. She was doing joint honours philosophy with English lit. We pretty much immediately fell in love and were together for two and a half years. The first 6-12 months were honestly the best of my adult life, we were together every day, fucking each others brains out, I introduced her to psychedelic drugs and so on. It all went south after a couple of years when I became an increasingly depressed alcoholic and she ended our relationship immediately after returning from doing TEFL for a couple of months. I am yet to recover from my mental health problems and addictions but I don't think she is to blame and I really understand why she had had enough of me. Pretty sure she's an English teacher now and I'm still a sad drunk sack of shit. Thank you for reading my blog post.

The differences in interpretation between Renaissance cartomancy, Etteila's and Levi's pseudo-Kabbalah, Golden Dawn/Waite vs Crowley? I'm curious, been playing with the cards myself; generally drawn to the Tarot de Marseille and other historical decks, though I have to admit that the RWS is really enchanting, even if everything that Waite and Smith spawned is utter shit.
On topic: girls aren't impressed by the mere fact that you've read a lot, but they like that you are a thoughtful person. Reading a lot is both a signal that you are a thoughtful person and also a way to become more thoughtful/interesting even if you aren't initially.
