Most of the Roman stuff is garbage. Probably not even written by Romans but by some medieval monk.

There aren't many reasons to read Svetonius.
Tacitus is more engaging

Agreed. Clearly OP's shitposting; his shitguessing as to the book's contents reveals that.

But did you get to the part where he mentions that Gaius would fuck other mens wives, and if he found anything too wrong with them, he would file divorce on behalf of the guy?

I've read Caesars, Augustus' and half way through Tiberius lifes. The whole structure of how he writes biographies is incredibly boring and a lot of the shit he writes about just sounds like he pulled it out of his ass, which he probably did. He should've reduced what he learned from the letter archives down to something more readable. But that probably wouldn't sell as much. But even as entertainment it seems trite.

Maybe in the sense that it's essentially what's become tabloid journalism, which is indeed insipid.

My main gripe is the repetitiveness of the whole thing. I've moved on to Dio for now who's a lot more enjoyable to read so far, at least from what is left of his work.

Nothing good comes easy, aka:
"Everything bad comes easy". But that which comes naturally comes easy, and you are the ultimate natural. You admit YOU YOURSELF ARE BAD, AND AS SUCH I CAN DISREGARD EVERYTHING YOU SAY BY YOUR OWN RULES HAHAHHAHA.

I tried reading the life of Augustus and, yeah, it's page after page of portents predicting his birth or whatever. I couldn't read it so I dropped it. I'll probably try to pick up again sometime because I think the life of Nero or Caligula would actually be entertaining with all the fucked up degenerate shit they did, since I heard it all actually comes from Suetonius.
