I expected good grammar, but apparently semi-colons are just too pretentious to resist for some people.

IF YOU KNEW SOME GRAMMAR YOU WOULD KNOW THAT COMAS ARE "WRONG" WHEN IT COMES TO WRITING "A LINE OF ITEMS".

COMAS ARE USED IN THOSE CASES ONLY WHEN YOU HAVE TO INCLUDE "SUBITEMS" IN THAT "LINE OF ITEMS".

FOR EXAMPLE:

A HOUSE; THE SKY WITH CLOUDS, BIRDS, MOTHMAN, AIRPLANES, ETC; A BUILDING; A CAT.

GET IT?

>> No.1309077

Semi-colons have their place. This attitude that semi-colons are only ever used to be pretentious is fucking stupid. It's like you take your writing advice from Vonnegut.

No, it's okay to use commas for a list. Semi-colons are only required when there's a break in the series.

4 semicolons in a row just looks ugly, I don't care what you say. Use a hyphen - a full stop. A question mark? Anything but 4 fucking semicolons. . .

>> No.1309137

>>1309114

If the individual items of a list are long, complex, affixed with description or themselves contain commas, semicolons may be preferred as separators, and sometimes the list may be introduced with a colon. (Wikipedia)

No, you're wrong.

nice job tripsfag. i think this is good, compelling writing. it attracts attention, which is more than one can say about most writing.
I don't get the dubai references. are you from there? in fact, i don't get what you're talking about at all. some of this sounds like song lyrics, it's so wishy washy and onamonapia-y.
But i like it.
I guess it's confusing and vague, so maybe you should try for more of a subject, but it's nice, and within the whole there were a few moments that seemed to mean something. "fare well!" at the end struck me for some reason; also references before that to a child.

hey prissy 19-th century faggot you do not belong here, i can tell by the way you write. your posts actually are way way way uglier than tripsfag, know why? because they're written by retarded trolls. GTFO LIT NOW ---- YOU DO NOT BELONG HERE

WELL, AT LAST SOME ACTUAL CRITIQUE!

OK.

THE "DUBAI REFERENCES" ARE PUNISHMENT; THE WHOLE TEXT IS FULL OF PUNS.

DUBH = GAELIC FOR "DARK".

I = PERSONAL PRONOUN

DUBAI = SIMBOLIZING, HERE, A PLACE SICKNESS WHICH RELATES TO THE "BLACK EYE" REFERENCE AT THE BEGINNING.(?)

NINETY FIVE PERCENT OF THE TEXT IS IN ENGLISH.

Interesting, thanks.
It reads a lot better with those notes and makes more sense. (I'm not exactly a poetry reader).
Now it's giving me the image of a stream of a consciousness in a child who' been injured in an accident, a fall or some rough-housing maybe... trips/capsfag is successful.

YEAH, WELL, NOT EXACTLY THAT SIGNIFICANCE BUT GIVEN THE AMBIGUITY OF THE TEXT, THEN, YOU CAN "INTERPRET IT" IN MORE THAN ONE WAY; I THINK.

I like it. Extremely Dada, which is a good thing.
