i used to devour his books in 2-5 days and downloaded anything i found with "most disturbing books list" google search and read that as well.
teens mostly think books are either "classics" (which are great, of course, but not "catchy" enough to make a 13 year old read it voluntary) or crapful cheap prose their wine-drinking female relative reads.
imo it's better for them to read, even if they read relatively pointless stuff, than to degrade on some normie social media

can't say for certain. one day I just started reading and no matter what else I get caught up in, and get bored of, I always find myself drawn back to books.

"Some men have a passion for horses, others for birds, others, again, for wild beasts; but I, from childhood, have been penetrated by a passionate longing to acquire books."

First books my father read to me, and I was three years old. I remember not really understanding at first, but then slowly getting it.

I've always read. Even before I knew how to read, I would open books and 'read'. My sister would kinda help. My parents always read me bedtime stories, too. I've always read.
