If thy hand offend thee, cut it off. For it is better to go to Heaven without a hand than to go headlong into the depths of hell with all your body.

/lit/, I've had just about enough of this self-help meme. Seems like every fucker that comes on here thinks books are a magic way to Be Your Best Self And Stop Masturbating Into Socks All Day or some shit.

Can we have an anti self-improvement kit? Off the top of my head I'm thinking Laozi and Zhuangzi, Foucault for challenging the whole project of the self, maybe Stirner (haven't read him, but by reputation/memes he seems to fit).

Yes, I'm aware of the irony of trying to get people to better themselves by stopping trying to better themselves.

the goal of self improvement is a contribution to the greater . books are difficult for me to read and there's a reason it's difficult. I want to nip this shit in the bud. Therapy, literature and meditation is my to do list atm, couldnt give a fuck about memes anymore

Dont fall for any of the memes here. If you want to read you first have to start to read. Anything. Literally, read anything and you want and you will start to recover. If you like music read some biographies of artists.

The Fountainhead, it'll reinforce the attitude that you're better than everybody else and that the mainstream media is composed of overpaid shills using propaganda to sow controversy, from there go with Marcus Aurelius' Meditations, then Nietzsche, once you realize you're a human being capable of anything you'll be all set
