Pinecone's alright. He's neither as bad or good as /lit/ claims. 7/10 writer.
His stuff is basically conspiracy thriller capers draped in recondite allusions. It's fun, but it doesn't mean a great deal. There's no emotional, spiritual or intellectual depth.

That's not depth. That's trappings - the allusions I mentioned in the first post.
Pynchon read a lot and stuffed his books full of references. It's fun. There's no depth to it.
As examples of "deep" lit i'd say - kafka, woolf, dickinson, lao tse - it's not about complicated prose or odd references, it's the thought that goes into the work/craftsmanship.
