I spent like $150 on books recently and most have arrived in the mail and I dont feel like reading any of them...anyone else know this feel? How do I overcome it?

Do you actually read at all or was this a dumb attempt to force yourself? Stop thinking of reading as a status thing.

Sounds like you crave easy fixes over lasting fulfillment. Don't beat yourself up, you're a product of your age, but if you want to change, you have to fight for it. Stop investing in masterbatory activities and force yourself to be the person that you want to be.

Just pick one up and start man, the advice here really isn't complex. And next time you feel the urge to spend $150, and at least try to finish reading 1 book before buying another bunch.

I do read but had taken a break for a few months because of work. Now that things are normal I wanted to read again. Then went to my backlog of books I wanted on abebooks and got them all.

Now I have no energy to start

You just need to bring your book with you everytime you leave your home, try to remember why did you buy it, that inner desire of choosing that book, and read it when you're in the train or something.

PS: I'm really sorry for my bad english.

Physical paper books are superior and for the wealthy. A digital backup on an e-reader is acceptable for travel etc. You are a poor person.

sometimes I buy books and it takes a while before I actually get around to reading them, but I do eventually. sometimes it's many months, or even years, but I know that it's there whenever the inspiration to read that particular book strikes. its like the right mood hits sometimes it seems like

I know this feeling. Just stop buying more books and force yourself to read everything you already own. That's how I did it. There's literally no other way. Every day pick up the book in turn and read it while you commute or in your free time. But read every single day. Do it for at least 30 days and then the habit will be there. Just remember not buy anything new before you finish everything you own and turn off your phone while you're reading to prevent you from being a screenfag addict and not reading books. Good luck, m8. Good things in life require effort.

the buzz of online shopping.
i'm nowhere near a shopoholic myself, but even i get a serotonin rush from purchasing some 3.21$ shit from aliexpress, i'm usually not as hyped when it actually arrives.

you enjoy the act lf buying and not the items themselves. try to buy more books irl and not online, a great source is any site like ebay where people sell their stuff, books included

For me, I got over a lull by just making myself start reading as a habit. It actually took a bit of effort and I was worried I was ruining it for myself, but it helped me get back into the groove and now I'm loving reading again. I'd pick the shortest, easiest book in your backlog and set a really easy goal, so easy you'd think it was pointless. Start with reading one page, if you do that, another page, if you do that five pages. If you get distracted or stop, don't worry about it, just continue later with a goal of one page again. Incrementally building up how much reading you do in a sitting really helps.
