Art is defined by its creativity. You can define art only in so far as you create a matrix in which to work, but the actual creation of the art should only be rigid in being as anti-conformist as possible. This is what I mean by constantly being in flux. The artist who already knows how his art will look at the outset is not an artist; he is a craftsman.

Leave this board and never return if any one of these apply to you:

>you read any form of genre fiction
>you barely know your classics
>you tend to believe that if you like a given work, it is justified on an artistic level
>you think everyone's opinion should be accepted and respected
>you speak a single language
>you read contemporary versions of Shakespeare or Milton
>you read for the plot
>you read for entertainment
>you rarely read nonfiction
>you don't have a solid grounding in philosophy
>you don't have at least have some understanding of the Three Tragedians and Homer
>you have little to no understanding of literature outside of your cultural horizon
>you have little to no understanding of literature within your own cultural horizon
>you mostly read contemporary literature
>you believe 'the author is dead'
>you make your literary analysis proceed from ideology
>you think intricate prose is 'pretentious' and that the author 'should just get to the point'
>your rarely read poetry
>you think Rhythm and Rhyme is just useless rules and laws restricting creativity
>you have a hard time explaining why you like a given work
>you have a hard time forming structured and relevant literary criticism
>you tend to refuse to judge works for yourself, rather relying on the opinions of literary authorities
>you rarely read for more than one or two hours straight

If you actually properly read my post, you would know I am against the popular fiction that arose out of Gothic Romanticism. Aside from that, I don't "like" anything, but pornography & that is something that should be kept separate from art; I APPRECIATE art. I don't think opinions should be accepted; I think art is something entirely elitist. I am saying that art should have a basis in philosophy. I also said art should not be propagandist. Rhythm & rhyme are largely restrictive, though. If you actually think otherwise, you have a very archaic way of approaching verse which restricts you from commenting on anything new. Again, I do not "like" anything; I appreciate it.

I have absolutely no idea why you posted this; nor do you, it would seem. & I am aware it is a meme.

What art is = what most educated, enlightened people consider art

What art is not = what some autistic tranny on /lit/ thinks is art

Why did we have Romanticism for a century, then?

Bad art can infect educated people, just as it infects uneducated people.

You're a Post-Modernist. I don't think you are in any position to say that to anyone.
