I'm a politician and you're absolutely right.
Most of my peers are not well read. They're meant to be leaders but they know little about people or history and nothing about morality. There is no coherent ideology or logic underlying their actions other than a desire for power or economic security.
People like O'Rourke and Trump are the product of the failed system of democracy. Our leaders are neither philosophers nor warriors. They're effete, milquetoast businessmen with no ideas about the big picture.
I try to inspire and encourage people to study history, philosophy, art, science, and politics, but they just won't. I started doing this wanting to help people but they don't want to be helped. They want human junk food like Beto O'Rourke, Joe Biden, Donald Trump, Justin Trudeau etc.
I feel like within the next few years I'll just sell all my stuff and go join a commune or more likely go innawoods and just give up on people.
