Is this good or entry level?

>> No.12805045

Freshman-core

Though not a bad book by any means.

>> No.12805049

Both

Judging books in terms of "levels" is characteristic of entry level readers. Instead try to judge a book's worth by what you have personally gotten from it.

>> No.12805066

its a good book, easy and fun to read, even more if you're in school. it doesn't matter if it is "entry-level" or not. it's not healthy to form your taste arround a irrelevant and pretentious labeling such as "entry-level"

"oh, no, this is just a entry level book"

grow up.

skip it read Studs Lonigan instead

Those terms not mutually exclusive but in this case it's the latter.

It was written for adults but is better suited for early teens. Teenage The Stranger.

i would kind of disagree, the stranger, at least undirectly, is really well suited for teens. its easy, fast and fun to read, i remember that back when i was in school read the stranger made me think about a lot stuff and questions. but well, in my country is a "classic" obligatoty read on school. id bout the usa

It's a good entry level book.

It is nice to read both for adults and teens. As a teen, you relate to the character and see yourself as him. But as you get older and more mature you realize how you do not want to be him and the flows that come when you do act like him.
You can label it all you want, it is still worth the read.

Kind of both. I loved it sophomore year of HS but as a 24 yr old it’s kind of annoying. Like Holden really is just a whiny bitch lmao.

You have no reading comprehension if your take on the book is "Holden is a faggot".

I really liked it when i was a teen, the main character was relatable

I agree now. But I think The Stranger is a bit more mature than TCitR

>> No.12805419

it's a good coming of age book, that has a value in recognizing the falseness of many people and wanting to rebel against that. i don't know if it would be as deeply compelling for an adult, but when I was younger it definitely affected my personal evolution, to want to be committed to being an authentic, real, genuine person

this is a pretty good reply.
i remember reading it in high school and forming arguments based on whether certain actions were
"right" (it was a little bit more detailed)
there is a very clear line between people that agree and disagree with the narrator. not that the latter dont sympathize or understand, but its the same feeling i get when i listen to punk music i used to enjoy as a kid.
