Looks decent. Was trying to find a houllebecq book this weekend myself to no avail. Tom Wolfe fucking sucks though I would rather watch grass grow

I haven't read him yet, but I hear good things.

Clearly not everyone shares my opinion but if he managed to be as fucking boring as he was writing about the subject matter of The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test I've no interest in anything else he's done

Paglia, Eco, Dante, and Melville are great. I remain unconvinced of Houellebecq, he has some interesting ideas but Atomised was one long and boring crywank. Can't stand Wolfe. Don't know the others.

Dude, Typee is like a 7/10. It's clearly nowhere near as well written as Moby Dick, which is understandable, because it's melville's first novel.

A 7/10 Melville book is like a 9/10 regular book if you think about it.

I love this book. Easily my favorite.

Flashman is fun,
so is Eco,
haven't read this book, but Northrop Frye is an excellent critic,
and Dante is someone to recon with, though the Vita Nuova is a minor work and of interest mostly to those who've read the Commedia.

good stack overall.

hmmmm.

I may be buying myself a copy of Sayings of the Desert Fathers.

Intriguing.

agreed that whatever looks like cancer in that edition but honestly if you're on this website you would probably enjoy it
