This has probably already been asked plenty of times but I want sometime to seriosuly explain it to me. What's so good about the Handmaid's tale? The writing style is clunky and confused and the characters leave no room for emotional investment. Am I just too dumb?

Well written and relevant at the time, what with the Iran situation, and paranoia about the approaching issues of the the 21st century

I'll go so far as to say that feminism in itself is entirely a intellectualization of sadomasochistic rape fetishism and that all feminists whether women or men are mentally ill and suffering from a particularly heinous paraphilia and derive sexual excitement and satisfaction from obsessively thinking about and discussing especially publicly the topic of rape, and they do so because God has given them over to a reprobate mind because they have rejected and hate God. "The Handmaid's Tail" by Margaret Atwood is a work of pornography made by and for this brand of insane sadomasochist. Atwood simply wrote out her masturbation fantasy, and it appeals to other people similarly damaged by shitty parenting, noxious pop culture, public schooling, and demonic influence, which explains its popularity among the camp of miserable, mediocre monsters that call themselves liberals. That's my hot take.

I would not say it is overtly about carnal stimulation, but I would agree there is an unconscious erotic element in the work. I would also not say feminism is about expressing female craving for domination in a socially approved way so much as a way for women to compensate for their insecurity over their desire to be ruled. Similarly militant atheism is about insecurity over the desire--and need-- to be ruled by something above humans
