is there anywhere I can borrow some bookshelves and sophisticated looking books to decorate my house and thereby impress this girl? I only need them for a few hours.

Tell her you donate your books to libraries and do most of your reading out of libraries. If pushed, become indignant and insist that you appreciate books for their content, not as ornaments and if a book is to live, to continue to enlighten, it must continue to pass into fresh hands and open minds.
