Are there any books on meditation techniques without Buddhist philosophy that you can recommend? I don't want anything that talks about compassion or my suffering etc, just focus on what I need to know in order to meditate properly. So far I meditate an hour a day, focusing on the breath, noticing when my mind drifts towards thoughts or feelings and then re-focusing, and I'm just wondering if there is more to it or if I'm on the right path?

I say without Buddhist philosophy since every time I've tried a book about meditation the author inevitably goes on about compassion and loving others and not being selfish and destroying the ego etc when what I'm using meditation as a tool for regaining focus. Each time I meditate I'm left with this fresh feeling of regained focus and knowing what I should and shouldn't do. My mind is clear and I enjoy that.
