REQUESTING CLASSICS THAT ONE WOULD BE ABLE TO READ FOR ALMOST 12 HOURS STRAIGHT (DUE TO FLIGHT)

SO NOTHING 'TOO DEEP', AS I'LL HAVE THE DISTRACTIONS OF WAITING FOR FLIGHT, PROBABLE ANNOYING FUCKING BABIES CRYING, AND SHIT LIKE THAT

IN RETURN, FREE RANGE CHICKEN

Catcher in the Rye

Bring another book in case you finish.

>> No.1261485

Try some Dickens, maybe. Maybe War and Peace. I think that'd get pretty boring reading it straight through. The complete Sherlock Holmes is pretty thick and it's highly entertaining. Henry Fielding's Tom Jones is a sizable book and also pretty light-hearted. That's all I can think of right now.

>> No.1261498

Thank you for the chicken. I suggest bringing two at least two books. That way you can add some variety to your reading if you get bored.

Thomas Mann - The Magic Mountain
Joseph Heller - Catch 22

I would suggest an anthology of a great writer whom is widely considered great. I have a large one sitting right here of Nabokov on my book-shelf titled "The Stories of Vladimir Nabokov." Too bad we are not friends IRL because, in that case, you could borrow it from me.

I WAS THINKING OF EITHER RE-READING THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING (AND THEN LATER FINISHING SERIES), BUT I WAS WORRIED THAT THE START MIGHT DRAG ON A BIT TOO MUCH

THEN I THOUGHT OF READING SOME MORE 'RUSSIAN LIT'.

I REALLY DON'T KNOW.

THANKS FOR THE INPUT, KEEP IT UP!

I really hope that was a joke. I spat out my drink in laughter. Had to get a towel to clean it up but it was worth it.

Cormac McCarthy. Easy to follow, but deep and puurrrty writing. Pick any of his, they are all great. Along the lines of Hemingway, but more contemporary.

Timeless classic for you right here.

How about a collection of Chekov short stories. Won't get too bored and they are short stories, so you don't have to get too into it.

The Long Goodbye? People might not say it's a classic in the Dickens sense, but they've never gone down those mean streets while not being themselves mean, while being neither tarnished nor afraid.
