Recently I have become interested in ecosystems and ecology, and specifically how these topics relate to philosophy. What books explore ideas of biological systems? Thanks.

J.G. Ballard I expect.

I've been interested in starting the Southern Reach trilogy myself, I understand there are a lot of ecological elements.

Ecology of Freedom by Bookchin, it's more social ecology, but it does generally go into ecosystems and ecology and is very heavy in how this relates to philosophy but also with how we understand and interact with these systems

THE FOREST AND THE SEA by Marston Bates...shows the ecological relationships between the forest canopy and the rest of the forest ecosystems which he describes as a "sea" and the rest of the jungle environment of South America and indeed the whole world...Pioneering work!
