But Sam, if you don't believe in free will, you MUST be religious, my man! After all, if human spirit is nothing but a result of a long chain of causality, that chain must have a causeless First Cause at it's beginning. What else could it be but Divine, Trascendental Creator, Sam?
Welcome to the fold, my christian brotha.

Why can't the first cause just be a churning base of existence? A timeless cauldron that bubbles universes?

Sam Harris single handedly closed Hume's is-ought gap and proved the existence of objectively morality (suffering is bad) in the Moral Landscape. He's up there with the greats like Aristotle and Rand

It could be a giant flaming penis ejaculting andromedas for all I care, but it has to be divine (i.e. outside of reason and influence of natural laws), by definition.

Yeah... Divine isn't that neutral a term. If that's definition is really all you mean, you could just say 'uncertain' or 'unknowable'.

Suffering is unpleasant, but not immoral, and in fact can be very moral.

Weak bait. Utilitarians have uninronically had it figured since Epicurus. If you take utilitarianism and tweak it by acknowledging that variance in the nature of valuing agents leads to non-universal (but overlapping) utility conditions, the dichotomies evaporate. Also stop conflating objectivity with universality.
