What works does /lit/ recommend a young man (20) who is currently drifting around in uni, has only very few friends, who wastes hours on this shithole called 4chan and most importantly is without the slightest real clue what to do with his life?

Is this actually any good?
I only remember the infamous incident when Pardon, a west german satirical magazine, sent in 1968 minimally changed (to make the age of the text a bit less obvious and it slightly harder to identify) excerpts to quite a few publishers, magazines, newspapers, writers and critics in germany, austria and switzerland, asking for reviews in the name of technical department head who said he had been writing on the manuscript for few years in his spare time.
No one of the 36 people, publications and publishers that answered identified the excerpts as Musil and most of the reviews Pardon got were devastating, calling the text our for it's false sentimentality and calling the language primitive.
