don't want to waste a thread on a dumb question:

should I get this edition or the vintage one with the rainbow rockets
this one has the original pagination but someone in the archive says it falls apart. I know the "deluxe" typos have been fixed but I don't really like the cover or deckle edges, what makes that edition "deluxe" anyway?

I've been wracking my brain trying to remember:
Is the narrator of GR an actual character? I seem to remember very explicitly a moment in the middle of the book where the narrator stands back from the story and states that he's going outside to smoke a cigarette, as if he were writing at his desk and decided to say, I'll be right back.
Does anyone remember a moment like this happening?
