I blame these two for making western canon so fucking boring. Every book is some derivation, homage, or reimagining of either greek stories or christian lore. And when it's not, it's usually an equally boring denunciation of these things, some kind of deconsstruction or critique. Just to be clear, I think the myths are great and I have no problem with christians whatsoever, but it's undeniable that these two cultural giants poisoned the literary tradition of the West for the past 2000 years and shouldn't be revered for that.
