The share threads were excellent and some of the collab music making threads (vamporwave collab albums on drake and josh and hey Arnold were high points). Plus general “what I expected what I got” threads and such were fun. But then as usual it devolved into bad reused memes and general shitposting. For instance I remember staying in a thread about Pavement until it expired and that one experience held me over for a few years, how sad is that? Now I never go back because it’s over.

FWIW I don't remember /lit/ being anything other than a shithole, and I've started browsing the board in 2012. If anything there was a slight increase in standards in 2013/2014 I think (shift from Pynchon and mostly Vonnegut to Joyce, and less Pynchon for instance). Even the /pol/itization of /lit/ (since 2014-2015 maybe ? not sure) has left us with guys like Evola as enduring meme.

Hard to say, I have so many books at home that I have to refrain from buying more so I never go to libraries. The ones I meet in the street or the subway are rather nice, but I give them money so it helps. The philosophical hobo was just one guy, but I met a few others that were fairly intelligent. All of them tend to mumble and monologue a bit, loneliness does that to you.

/mu/ was my hot spot for a while. similarly to >>12526142, I got burnt out on it and don't really find it that enjoyable anymore. Probably because I reached a point where my taste had developed beyond the memed albums and I was able to see that the board has too many plebs and tryhards. The sharethreads can still be fantastic however I prefer just finding my own stuff these days by stumbling across cool labels.

In general, many of the boards here are addicting at first because of the fast response rates and new info, but you soon realize how much of the posting are just memes from plebs like yourself and not actual help.

During the later aughts I posted on /b/ here and there like most who first came to 4 chan, and I liked /pol/ around the Boston bombing because I was becoming extremely frustrated with the Obama administration. I lurked /fit/ until I started going to the gym, but now I rarely go there.

I initially liked it because there was a culture of actually creating stuff and the board's taste, while not high art or anything, covered stuff that was unusual or culturally interesting.
