Man I remember catching One Piece one night, only time I ever sat down to watch any of it by the way, and they were running all over with crazy legs screaming about a bomb for twenty minutes. That's all I remember. They got a world map on the front page of a web search for hxh and I guess your anonymous says that because we like colonialism? and genre shit is an easy target here plus those characters look like cats and I think this is the only board that doesn't joke about killing cats. Except maybe /x/ too. I think /x/ would like hxh even more than us. Why don't you go ask them what they think?

Princess Tutu uses elements from many fairy tales, but it is not a direct adaptation of any existing folk narrative. Thus it represents a folkloresque mode of discourse, using metacommentary as a narrative device. This mode encourages audiences to look past the curtain of motifs and observe the generative grammar that guides the plot’s structure. Japanese Fairy-Tale Traditions Japan, like most world cultures, has maintained an indigenous tradition of magical folktales that are distinguished from other forms of narrative by a Bill Ellis characteristic set of formulas and motifs. One clear example is the traditional opening formula, “Mukashi mukashi,” literally “Long ago, long ago,” an exact parallel to the Anglo-American “Once upon a time.” The prevalence of this formula gives rise to the most common Japanese term for such stories, mukashi banashi, or “long-ago tales” . A closing formula of some kind is also usually present.
Many mukashi banashi are more like legends in Western tradition, as they deal with the origins of place-names and the activities of distinctively Japanese supernatural creatures such as oni (similar to ogres) and kappa (similar to the Germanic Nix, or water sprite). Still, a rich heritage of household tales parallels the international Märchen tradition by focusing on the adventures of an ordinary person (male or female) in a magical realm. Yet Japanese folktales depart from the Western model in a number of significant ways. One is the greater prominence and independence of female characters, who are often the protagonists or whose actions determine the fate of the male protagonist. Another is the tendency to separate male and female protagonists at the end, rather than unite them in the “happy ever after” conclusion familiar in the West. Both traits contrast with Japan’s cultural definition of female social roles; although the “essential equality of the sexes” was guaranteed by the country’s new constitution in 1945, Michiko N. Wilson notes that patriarchal expectations continue to govern most marriage bonds. This turns the wife’s role into what feminist critics have termed an “unequal treaty” (fubyōdō jōyaku) that insists on the authority of the male and the limitation of female activities to a small number of supporting roles.

I found myself relistening to HxH's OST as of a few days ago. Emperor's Time, Hyori Ittai, Nagarere Boshikirari, and a few others. The show is definitely overrated, and it's fanbase can be very pretentious. But it has many strengths, and I enjoyed several aspects of it. Killua is the main draw for me - he's such a real-feeling character and I desperately wish I could be a young boy again like him, so seeing him is like seeing an avatar of me on screen. Oh, how I wish I could go back to those days..

I don't care if people respond. But threads that don't even belong on this board should not be getting bumped to the top of the catalog. People come here to engage. If this thread seems hot, it will get more attention than other, on-topic threads. If anyone replies to this thread, they should be saging.
