I'm returning my kindle for a Clara hd as we squeak cause it's a piece of shit. Kobo Clara has a lit e ink screen with the yellow night vision feature

t. Kobo Shill

Paperwhite and Kobo are the same, both can read pirated books, both can read any format since calibre converts as you send a book to it. Buy the best deal, or if you are rich and dont care Kobo Glo HD or Oasis

Looking to get my first e-reader and I'm torn between the paperwhite 4 and clara HD. I think the tie breaker for me is going to be which one shills less on the home screen. I just want to be able to read my library in peace. Which is the better option?

If money isn't an object the reMarkable is cool. Otherwise, there's a Kindle PW2 on eBay about to sell that'd be fine (just get Calibre to convert epubs). Don't overthink it.

Not a kobo shill just a kindle hater. I got the original kindle without the light on it without knowing and that paired with the stupid unresponsive screen left left a bad taste in my mouth.
>>12519784
also this, i hated the kindle interface and that it constantly displays ads. the lock screen on the kindle is one long constant ad and they show a bottom banner ad any time you're not on a page

Or you can stop being a cheap fuck and choose to pay the normal price for the adless version. We're talking about a device that costs less than 150 bucks that allows you to read for free. It could cost twice that that it would still be worth it

PDF provides uniformity and is a copy of the actual book. You have real life page numbers so you can easily convey where the material is without counting down paragraphs and chapters. It is more aesthetically pleasing.

What is stoneage is using a plaintext format, especially considering they are OCR'd and almost always have some errors in them. I'm talking, Conjoined dialogues. Spellcorrected words. Entire paragraphs and pages completely omitted. Yet, many never notice it, because these were meant for John Grishim tier reading and these devices themselves only have progress bars and % or bad page approximations, meaning it's easy to inadvertently skip a page and not realize it until you're midway down.

I’m so close to grabbing one on eBay but Jeff Bezos’ shills have scared me into worrying that the software is shit. If all I want is epubs on a larger screen, will the Aura One work for me? I don’t really care about PDFs and manga and shit, just epubs and Overdrive.

>> No.12521553

Software is fine. The Aura One is great. The Forma (which is more expensive and the newer model) has pwm screen flickering because Kobo decided to cheap out,

Fuck, I’m this close to buying one... Does the larger screen really help? I’ve had a Nook Simple Touch for a few years (lost it for a while, to be fair) and I don’t read on it as much as I thought I would because it feels too cramped and low-res.

If you dont attach your kindle to wifi and just leave it the ads will disappear on their own and be replaced by a qt with a telescope telling your to read a great book. If you truly hate amazon reading free books on your kindle hurts them the most, because they sell their units at a loss that is made up for by their ebook monopoly.
