I was exactñy talking about this with my friends today. We reached the conclusion that it isn't.
Look at literature/philosophy high school teachers, most of them are dumb and they all have read a lot.

Not really, reading is just a fun way to waste time

Possibly, depending on what you read and decide to retain and act on.

But this isn't. There is no reason to prioritize written symbolization over digital symbolization other than personal preference or prejudice. Socrates is written by Plato as anti-literacy because he (S) thinks that writing things down will cause memory atrophy.

I spend enough time on 4chan to know that burrowing into the screen to sate your addiction is nowhere near as fulfilling as reading, or playing a video game, or watching a movie, or doing literally anything but spending hours staring at a computer screen.
Every day I spend here I know I have wasted, and yet when I try to spend my days better I always end up gravitating back. It's an insidious addiction.

You are reading a book about the truth of pain. Although you may understand the truth of pain, and accept the truth of pain, if the pages of the book you were reading were to spontaneously combust, you would drop the book in pain.

There is a lot more to it than reading books.

> Is reading the key to enlightenment?

No.

The man in the middle is the enlightened writer. The people surrounding him are his loving readers.
