this is my first time crawling out of the depths of /b/

that being said, i've gone thru 10 pages of /lit/ and you all seem to be just as fucked up as /b/tards. I tried adding intellectual comments to quite a few threads {and giving them the 2 hours it takes to get a conversation going}, but you're all coming across as tight assed morons that still think there is a difference between a book and "literature."

I read 6-10 novels a week, but after having perused the postings here, I haven't dound 1 reason to come join this group of self-proclaimed lit nerds.

Does this board have any redeeming qualities?

Literature
–noun
1. writings in which expression and form, in connection with ideas of permanent and universal interest, are characteristic or essential features, as poetry, novels, history, biography, and essays.
2. the entire body of writings of a specific language, period, people, etc.: the literature of England.
3. the writings dealing with a particular subject: the literature of ornithology.
4. the profession of a writer or author.
5. literary work or production.
6. any kind of printed material, as circulars, leaflets, or handbills: literature describing company products.
7. Archaic . polite learning; literary culture; appreciation of letters and books.
Under which of these definitions do you ascribe a difference between books and literature?
Or is it just pretentiously accoladed works that can be called literature?

When an obscure piece is picked up as curriculum does it automatically become literature?
What, in your mind, changes a simple book into Lit?

Yeah, /lit/'s full of wankers. It's occasionally fun though, and if you stick around you'll hear about a lot of good books, and maaaaaaybe hear some opinions about books you wouldn't have heard about otherwise. Just jump over and skim the front page whenever you're done fapping. Also, I hope you're underage. If you'renot, you should not still enjoy /b/.

ok then.

I'll bob my head in every now and then.

It's unfortunate that my genre of choice is 40's thru 80's sci-fi. It seems that my input would be less than welcome here.
But I also have a love for pertinent social commentary, both fictional and pseudo-fictional.

I bid you all farewell.
