Who's the guy who made the book that explodes Christian concepts of nature? Like finding God in everything, some Spinoza god's ridiculous manifestation in the world. I read some years ago. It was done by a drunken lout who traveled a lot. He was none too famous.

Timothy Dexter's book - A Pickle for the Knowing Ones. Read his biography before - at least the wikipedia article - the man was bizarre, I don't know how he managed to be successful.

>he started telling visitors that his wife had died (despite the fact that she was still alive) and that the woman who frequented the building was simply her ghost. In one notable episode, Dexter faked his own death to see how people would react. About 3,000 people attended Dexter's mock wake. Dexter did not see his wife cry, and after he revealed the hoax, he caned her for not grieving his death sufficiently.

There was a trade in people's diaries and accounts in the new world. It began with ships captains. The American's ate it up. It became a market that overflowed into Britain. Funny that no one seems to care about that particular history. The results have been interesting.

Can't find anything online, but I'll take a look. The accounts are tame. You're meant only to feel for the man because of his position. And considering what was actually going on in the colonies, you realize that even the real narratives were constructed for society, for another world. It's difficult to address the realism in military and religious accounts without secondary sources.

It bothers me how liberals call Trump a coward for slipping the Vietnam war. That war was wrong, and anyone who dodged it was a hero. Generally, they'd even agree with this statement. They agree with Bernie Sanders copping out of the war, but when mister Trump does the same....
