Gonna be going through Finnish military conscription later this year and wanted to know from other /lit/ lads who've gone through what reading is like there: Is there time to read during the week? Is weekend only good time? Any general tips/info?

Book recommendations to last 6 months?

There is time in the evenings, but you are probably going to be too tired to read. If you are going to do it anyway, read in the garrison library. That way you can avoid getting picked on by the less literate folks you bunk with.

Would you rec bringing a book with you or just leaving it at home for the weekends?

I don't know because my country has a professional army and we aren't next to a potentially belligerent former enemy. Good luck mate!

I was in the US Navy for several years. Outside of boot camp there was plenty of time to read. I even had time to read while I was standing watch in CIC on deployment.

Bring your own if ya want. Depending on the place, you might not be allowed to use your phone in most places but everybody is cool with you reading books.

Aamuja.

Favor novellas over doorstoppers so you actually feel like you are getting some reading done. That's what i did.
