Hi /lit/. Casual reader here, looking for some advice.

I read this several years ago as a teenager, back when I started to like reading. It's short, but it has always stuck with me. I've been curious to try some more of Mr. Wells' stuff, but it appears he has written a lot. What are some other must-haves by him?

Invisible man, War of the Worlds, Island of Dr. Moreau are the must read.

Personally, I prefer Jules Verne to Wells. Pic related.

This. I haven't read all of Welles' stuff, but from what I have read, The Time Machine is his best work.

Read The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen actually. It probably owes more to Welles than any other author.

Awwww shit. I'm totally chugging through a paper about this now. I'm using that exact edition and everything

Good stuff.

the time machine is one of my favorite reads. timeless, hah. wells is the grandfather of sci-fi. not the BEST of sci fi, but id give him the grandfather title. and yah, the time machine is his best, but of course read war of the worlds--it got people to commit suicide upon hearing the radio show so it has merit i guess haha.

The First Men in the Moon and In the Days off the Comet are my personal favorites. When the Sleeper Wakes is widely considered his masterpiece, but I found it kinda boring. I'd also recommend checking out Tono-Bungay and The Croquet Player. I'm a huge Wells fan, by the way.

Read the sequel to the Time Machine (Time Ships or some shite) by Stephen Baxter.
It's totally authorised and everything, but its actually surprisingly good.
Written in the same style, and ties up everything while giving still the sense of mystery and such.
Good read really, and couldnt hurt a look.
