So tell me about those 3-4 hour plays? How did the people survive them?

What a beatiful picture, so nostalgic for some reason. Do you have more?

Is it the Globe Theatre?

Theatres at that time were less formal than they are now. Audience members would be talking and shouting throughout the whole thing, you would sometimes have audience members sitting or standing on stage. It could get rowdy.

The Rose. There were several open air in-the-round theatres at the time.

They were usually 2 hours long. Not everything in the original scripts were performed.

Any actors part/full time/hobbyists?
Been in 2, 4 hour plays. They aren't unusual and are very do-able. Was the main character in one and everything. Just down to a lot of rehersals is all.

I once performed in a production of Romeo&J that attempted to re-create the Elizabethan conditions of the performance. We were outdoors, the cast was all-male, and the audience was made to stand, given fruit to throw, and encouraged to heckle the players. It amped up the entertainment factor considerably.
