I read daily, sometimes two or three books and a couple science articles or journals.

I just don't see any need anymore to attempt to validate my taste in books or my perspectives. For the longest time I came to /b/ to shitpost and /lit/ to learn. Eventually I became engrossed in trying to convince /b/tards I'm not a newfag and /lit/fags I'm well-read and moderately intelligent.

Took a while to realize even if any of you anons actually, honestly gave a fuck what another anon reads, there's 4-5 other anons shitposting maymays, pop culture references, or 2smrt4u posturing.

Except for odd posts like this, it came down to lurk or leave.

Don't expect more than people can offer you and you won't be disappointed. I generally might agree, I prefer a girl to have more spark, but in Rei's case, despite her supposed to be so blank, her portrayal reads as more sexily dreamy to me. It's partly her appearance and the sound of the voice actress, but also there's a bit of cuteness / comicalness to her sentiments and responses.

What I mean is comparing 4chan anonymity to a place like reddit or facebook. There is some posturing and artificiality here but I get the sense that nobody is really that serious about it, precisely because you don't gain much of anything from it on an anonymous forum. It is the hallmark sign of a new, transient class of 4channer. Whereas many users of 4chan only come here for their particular interest—literature, anime, fitness, video games—with the chan-culture twist, the particular interest of this new class is 4chan itself. While the particular board users will cross-board along the lines of the natural comorbidity of interests, say: /lit/–/his/, /fa/–/soc/, /co/–/tv/, ect. they will generally stay within the peripheries of their experience. This is not the case with this new class; they could be considered professional cross-boarders, as, having no particular interest but 4chan itself, they are not at home or confined by any board or subject, and as such drift across all boards like a meme-miasma, spreading sickness and low-quality posting. As such they do not develop a board culture, but a cross-board culture. This causes them to develop a universal language, which this invariably means a compound super-structure of "memes." This universal language circumvents one of the core issues that this new class faces—having no interest in any particular board, they cannot properly engage with the content of any board. To amend this problem, they will engage their universal language of shitposting, making a superficial thread which is merely a slightly adjusted template version of the same meme. They are searching for the posts which play to the stereotype of 4chan that they hold: NEET/incel-posting, sick burns, ironic posting, ect. They will then engage with these by posting their universal language or "based and redpilled" or "cringe and bluepilled" or "yikes" or whatever is currently in fashion. These replies are essentially meaningless, but stoke a feeling of engagement within this new class, and help mark out the ebin posts for their compatriots. This new class is constantly growing and can be felt on every corner of 4chan, are especially prevalent in boards like /pol/ and /tv/, and replace any actual discussion of the topic at hand with twitter bait threads, dumb youtube videos, meme threads, e-celebs, "ironic" dumb-posting—basically topics which anyone can engage with no investment and are part of the mosaic identity of this new class (Peterson, Feminism, "onions," Jannies, NPC, cringe, ect., topics which pertain to no board in particular). They are also the most likely to use frogs, wojacks, and other highly repeatable images. In fact, this very thread is a perfect example of this new class at work. Due to the political-economy of posting they will always be able to outpace, outpost, and overrun any but the largest boards.

I don't think there's much of a difference between binge watching series on streaming services and lurking and shitposting on 4chan for hours.
