He did like his solar anus stuff though (or maybe just the original, Schreber's?). Maybe Bataille was too obsessed with death for Deleuze's liking.

Don't mix Bataille and Deleuze kids

>> No.12217815

Isn't Bataille one of Deleuzes main influences? Or has my view of Deleuze just been distorted by reading Land?

>> No.12217952

>>12217815
Not really imo. In his essay on the superiority of Anglophone literature, he admits he doesn't like Bataille's fiction. As for theory, he doesn't often refer to Bataille; rather, he occasionally cites Blanchot approvingly, and, above all, is more influenced by Klossowski.

While we're on the subject, what are the lewdest French writers and what are their lewdest texts? Bataille and Klossowski stand out, but surely there are others. Sadly much of Klossowski isn't translated afaik.

Deleuze didn't like Batailles notion of transgression , ad calls him a crypto christian for thinking that transgression in the face of God is the only thing that matters, which is probably a huge insult considering both of their Nietzschean backgrounds. On the other hand the question of religion in Bataille is very interesting in how he approaches it and plays a significant role in his development. Deleuze on the other hand doesn't think religion is really important.

Thanks anon! I even found a link in the archive. I had no idea Guyotat was that influential, apparently the poststructuralists really appreciated him.
