Cynicism is the worst of both worlds.
It promises to exchange the falsehoods of idealism for absolute truth, and demands only your soul as payment.
Yet people tend to forget, that the persuit of absolute truth, and the readiness to sacrifice even your soul for it, is one of the highest forms of idealism right there. And so the cynic gains nothing. He sacrifices his idealism for absolute truth, but in turn looses even this to cynicism. The one who promised himself to absolute truth, is first and foremost an idealist and will not be stuck in that swamp.
