I loved the book, but it's not for everyone. The narration is very restrained in emotion, very robotic, but it somehow manages to be hilarious at times or emotional at others without ever really losing that even narration style. I found it fascinating to explore stories for a ton of seemingly separate people, and see how they wound up affecting each other's lives. The problem is that even though the book constantly jumps between stories, I found that its style could get repetitive over time. There's a lot of lists in the book, which is interesting at times, but I'm not sure how fascinating it is to read through over and over in a book of this length. I feel like even most people who enjoy the book get tired of the style and don't finish it, which is understandable but a shame, because it ties itself together pretty nicely by the end. Read the background of the novel sometime, about the self-imposed limitations he had for the writing process.
