One of the main reasons why literature is so superior to movies, television, and video games is that it's an ancient medium so you have thousands upon thousands of books to read without annoying strong womyn characters or forced racial and sexual minority characters. I don't think it's all or nothing. You can have sexual urges and attractions without letting them control your life, and killing that part of your body and mind is not necessary for the other parts of you to flourish. We should avoid both overgrowth and undernourishment of any part of our nature. Of course, sexual urges have some of the most destructive consequences if they aren't handled well, but I think they can also have the most blissful consequences if handled properly. Grace perfects nature, it does not destroy it.

Don't most people ruin shit and make bad choices in most books? There are counterexamples to your claim, but because of the difficulty of writing a completely positive work of fiction, there are many more examples that support your claim. Also, the arrival of a woman is often violent and destructive because that's the way it is in most men's lives. When you fall in love with a woman, pretty much everything else you valued starts to pale in comparison, and it's a pretty uprooting and transformative experience.
