OP from Kissinger thesis thread here.

Like I said, going to try to scan it this weekend, and when I do, I will post a new announcement thread. For now, we can keep all discussion going in this Spengler thread.

German philosopher of history of the early 20th century, read the wikipedia page for his book 'Decline of the West'.

>>12090468
He did the same for me too. It's actually almost counter-intuitive because he presents a philosophy of history which is completely fatalistic, but instead of inducing nihilism or apathy, he urges you to do your duty, to play a meaningful role in the fulfillment of the Western tragedy.

Anxiety and depression are both caused by an incoherence of the exterior and the interior.

What do you mean though? He is so far nailing the contemporary era as well. Some of his predictions even run further into the future. We really are living in the winter of western civilization; caesarism and the second religiousness are probably just around the corner.

Not entirely accurate. He rejected the biological aspect of racialism, believing that a metaphysical conception of race was more appropriate.

Race is composed of three parts, Body, soul and spirit. Denying the body, or the bodies influence on metaphysical race, is full retard. He didn't come off as someone with anything substantial to say on the subject, and wasn't merely critical of the scientific accuracy of biological race (which was supra-natural anyway) he was just a vapid anti-racist.

I had a nice period of this back in 2013-2015 but then things got very spooky for me around 2016 and the world stopped seeming Spenglerian and more like it was inhabited by all sorts of arcane demonic and angelic forces and now nothing makes sense anymore

I remember that feeling of absolute lucidity i got upon understanding his basic idea though

Does he write anything about music i.e. he was in a middle of dodecaphonic/stravinsky revolution, so he probably had some nasty things to say?

>> No.12092391

yes quite a bit

>> No.12092399

>>12092325
He doesn't really care about any music after Wagner I don't think. Art music peaked for him with the high Baroque merge into classical. He goes on quite a bit about the relation between counterpoint, polyphony generally, and the prime symbol of Faustian culture, as expressed through things like the Gothic Cathedral and the mathematical function.
