Something weird is definitely going on, this isnt the only board where it's happening. /pol/ and /new/ both just look different these days. /g/.

Posts appear and seem like their pruned more often, across all boards. For the first time in the 11 years I've been here it feels like there are topics, really random topics , that you can't talk about anymore.

It's probably a mix of newfags and new jannys. Wish I knew where everyone went though. You cant talk to people in real life like you can here.

also lit has definitely been colonized by pol in the past like 6 years. i dont care because i go on pol as well, but in 2012 there was a fraction of the polposting there is today

I once got into an angry argument with someone here about IQ tests and got so buttmad I left the board for 7 years.
It's alright, it has gotten worse but then so has every board. At least you haven't declined as much as /a/, /sp/, /mu/, /jp/, /v/, /p/ or /g/.

/pol/ really did a number on this site. It seemed like a good idea at the time to try and quarantine political content, but all that really did was allow it a place to multiply and then spread back out over the rest of the site. It's not the content per se that is the issue, but the way it gets pushed everywhere and pollutes and inhibits normal discussion.
