Ive been on /lit/ since 2012, and /fit/ at least a year or two before that. Dumber is ridiculous, and makes you look like a retard, so forget that. The problem with /lit/ is that many young people come to this board wanting to learn about literature. They get exposed to memes, the sticky, some classics, maybe even a few hidden works by todays standards (Mann, Lermontov, etc). They develop taste, they seek out new literary experiences, they go to college, they share them, they are shot down by the group think. So they leave, or join a discord, or dont require a blue board to tell them to read 1984 anymore. This board isnt like /fit/ which has inherently funny memes. So the population replaces and refreshes itself, leaving none of the accrued wisdom of previous iterations, only echoes of DFW and brrpppppp

I still fucking come back every so often just to see. Are lolis still a thing? Are traps & pr0n still 70% of /b/? How far have the millenial babbies invaded /lit/? Where are the vanguard that once raided /mlp/ with puddin'? How many remember the cult Nick joined to get famuz, or that birdlike elder that ate dead child peen and lul'd about it in an AMA? How many left on /x/ who know the truth? Who remembers the last of the sages?

Every time I come back, and the odd time I rally for a return of ancientfags from as far back as /rue, the glory days return for maybe a week. Longest was the month that 10yo girl convinced nearly 30000 white dudes to dump fucking bags of grotesque torture and mutilation pics into the wind near crowded metro areas around the world.

I feel like a fucking 'nam veteran longing for a return to combat. The oldfags, back when I started shitposting to fuck with them, they'd all laughed and said you might leave but it never leaves you. Fucking hell, those old cunnies were correct.

This is the last time I come back. Who knows, maybe you'll see another pot-pot in the news in a few days.
