When and how did philosophy stop being practical? Greek, Roman, and early Christian philosophy had things to teach men that made them better men. Philosophy today is just autistic screeching.

This beardog cub is cute OP. Keep up the good work.

Though in reference to your question, a lot of what modern philosophers has to say has already been articulated in the past in one way or another. Philosophers aren't known for being right, they're known for being the first to take credit for their sayings.

People make fun of people who confuse wild animals with tame dogs a lot, but I think it's really easy to make that mistake.

I can't speak of the analytics, but people like Derrida and Deleuze provide you with tools to face the modern world through their autistic screeching. Culture and living has gotten more complicated. Avenues of attack have expanded. The old advice still stands (if it works, it works), but there are many more paths.

With that said, I also just enjoy autistic screeching and the 20th century french pseud equivalent of posting smug anime faces. Stop kinkshaming me you fag

Did it stop being practical? Give me an example. I know many ways in which philosophy is still utilized.

>Imagine misunderstanding Roman and Greek philosophers this much

It’s like you haven’t read any of them except for the back cover of some Stoic book and decided ‘hmm yes, clearly their philosophy was only shitty self-help books’.

Also, how basic and vapid do you have to be that the only thing you want out of philosopy is how to be a Better Man™ (whatever that means)?

Seriously, just clean your room, bucko; it’ll serve you just as well as asking autistic questions like this.

How does the average man in the street benefit from philosophy of today? Reading the Greeks would benefit him.

You're talking about analytic philosophy, which has been instrumentalized in the fashion of science. Continental philosophy still has emancipatory goals though. Read this if you have a free evening.

Philosophy became irrelevant the moment humanity finally started to properly figure science out.

Science has accomplished more in the last 200 years than philosophy did in 2000.

Is there even any practical use to philosophy nowadays? Im starting to read philosophy more but purely with the intent of using it in a videogame script im writing.
