Is spirituality cope? Or is the idea that it is just cope for those who are threatened by standards of success and development that aren't strictly Darwinian, ie sex, wealth, and fame?

>> No.12043808

It's a very important question you have asked OP. But you need to figure out the answer for yourself. Big stepping stone my bro (y)

hmm, Darwinian evolution that we can prove beyond a shadow of a doubt, or woo woo feely feels... which way shall we go?

some of the greatest artists and philosophers were miserable, childless loners. and yet, there's nothing more insipid and neutered than the pasty, sexless intellectual

the rush of getting a girl's number or killing it at the gym will almost always eclipse intellectual activity. and yet, the chaddest of self-aware chads always complain about the emptiness of hedonism

it is an interesting question

Cope and weird that you associate Darwinian logic with sex, wealth and fame but you're stupid so it can't be helped.
>>12043866
If the latter is at all real (which you tacitly admit) then you by definition cannot do otherwise especially within the context of the whole species and life itself.

>Is spirituality cope
Can be, depending on the person. But ultimately its one of two possible attitudes to the world--naturalist and supernaturalist. A choice must be made, and neither is full satisfactory. But I will say that the choice of naturally paints a terribly bleak view of our situation, that our spiritual impulse, perhaps the most glaring aspect of our interface with the world, is a delusion.

'darwinian logic' is associated with 'ego' which includes sex, wealth and fame because personality is submission to spirit.

i'm not sure why you say he's so stupid that he can't be 'helped', as if your materialist paradigm is 'truth'... i guess thats the cult of scientism at play.

well its unreal in the sense that Darwinian theory is just a representation of what we call the physical world, specifically a descrition of the mechanics behind living systems, their genealogy and dynamics. But its not unreal compared to nearly anything else that is not simply a harder science like physics. You’re relativizing, which is fine since we admittedly cannot know objective truth as finite, mortal and easily misled organisms, but mendacious in the sense that what you offer or seek has such a paucity of credibility or predictive power, requires so much less dedicated study and contains significantly less information, that frankly you might as well ignore it entirely. You may intuit the limits on empiricism and the deductions we derive from empirical study but that doesn’t imply you or any spiritual person has anything like a more useful, or veritable teaching.

lol no dude, I'm not talking about darwin's theory of evolution, "darwinian" itt is a catch-all for a strictly worldly standard of success: sex, fame, wealth, as this anon pointed out >>12043936

dismissing spirituality on account of its lack of "predictive power" tells me everything i need to know about how well-informed you are about the traditions you are dismissing out of hand: not very.

it's like you're telling me i shouldn't listen to the advice of a sagely old grandfather because i could not prove it in a controlled setting, you sound so disconnected from what's real it isn't even worth aguing with you

Seems dishonest, but you are stupid so dishonesty isn’t a severe offense from you.

I spent 5 years reading mysticism, spiritual texts and philosophy, you will find nothing there.
