I need a good book to read, something that will make me think.

Similar to that of my pic.

p.s. the movie is fucking terrible in comparison to the book

Can you really put Palahniuk on the same level as Burgess?

I would recommend William S. Burroughs but I haven't read anything by him myself, so I don't

In all honesty, Fight Club was the first book I read after Clockwork Orange. Thought they went decently well together.

This.

Seriously, it's not even close.

Junky is good. Naked Lunch is just mindfuck territory.

If you're coming from Burgess, you should read Nabokov's Lolita or Joyce's Ulysses. They amplify what he's doing in that book.

Naked Lunch is the greatest novel of the second half of the twentieth century written by an American. It fucks your head but it's meant to. It retrains your thinking. Or you reject it, and become a fart.

Not even close, maybe makes the top 50, maybe. Great book though.

Bullshit, A Clockwork Orange is probably the only case where the movie is better than the book.

it's certainly more understandable. the book had me going in circles for a bit because of the language!

I picked up absolutely nothing from Naked Lunch other than being mildly disgusted at times
It's been a number of years since I've read it though so maybe it'll be a little less impenetrable the next time I give it a chance
