I live in some crack den, and the bed I'm on doesn't sit up or anything and I'd rather not lean on the wall or anything like that. Also not into wearing mirrors on my face or holding some e-reader/book above my head or even getting uncomfortable on my side. Does a solution exist for the extremely lazy and financially ruined man?

What I'm thinking of right now is getting a pico projector, throwing an image of the page up on the ceiling at a respectable size, and then having some kind of clicker/program on my phone to advance the page (having it turn itself off with n minutes of inactivity).

That still requires me to lean up against the wall. Three walls to choose from: shared walls with neighbors that are too thin to do that or the wall facing the street which isn't wide enough to put my bed against. If I choose a shared wall, I'm going to feel their conversations/fucking and get annoyed.

This is ignoring the fact that if I fall asleep on this bitch, my back is fucked in the morning. The positive of the projector on the ceiling is that I don't have to deal with consequences of sleeping like a retard.

In the picture of your supposed "crack den" are Tim Horton cups and a Petro-Canada card. Also it's an unfinished basement, a very common thing in Canada.

How in the world did you manage medical debts as a Canadian? Free healthcare and plenty of social programs to help with dental and prescription costs.

Delet. My simple infection caused a panic attack because I was convinced I was dying (felt terrible, couldn't stop shaking, gaunt, etc), which caused me to hit the emergency room/clinic because I don't have insurance...and they ended up charging $6500~ when all was said and done for the privilege of their time/effort, one of their rooms for about two hours while testing was going on, and fucking generic medication/saline. No job, which meant that I defaulted on the payment and before I could setup some kind of arrangement with the hospital's billing department they pushed off my debt to a collections agency. Guess what happens when you can't pay that debt? Credit ruination. And if your credit is ruined, you're not getting a decent place to live or a decent job (don't ask me why certain bottom of the barrel jobs do a credit check, but they sometimes do).

So here we are, living in some crackden in a middle sized city working a dead end job with no hope of economic verticality and no hope of finding people to talk to due to the lack of forced interaction I have with anyone. All I'd like to do is simply lay down in my empty apartment on my bed, stare at the ceiling where some text from a book is, and read until I fall asleep or do something that would require the same amount of effort. And if I'm really, truly lucky, I'll die in my sleep one of these days and be released from this misery.

You're underestimating how fucking stupid Americans are when it comes to college, now medical debt is a legitimate problem but it can at least be discharged through bankruptcy. In 2015 over half of all college students didn't live at home but that number includes people who go to community colleges so the actual number of people who don't stay home is even higher than that. So you have something like 60-70% of college students taking on $15,000 of debt a year for no reason other than "dude parties LMAO" and even then people who stay at home usually don't work or blow it all on stupid shit. Like 5 people I went to high school with attended the massive well respected university that was in our city (which also had faggy frat parties, eliminating the entire reason to leave the state/city). If you live in a rural area or want to study a hard science you may have to get reemed in the shitbox on debt but for a majority of people there's no reason to graduate with $40,000 in debt.

You can continue blaming the rest of the world for your inability to improve your life (from 6 fucking grand worth of debt mind you. That's basically nothing as far as medical is concerned) or you can accept responsibility for the life you have created for yourself and work towards active steps to fix it like an adult. The United States accounted for 42% of prescription drug spending and 40% of the total GDP among innovator countries and was responsible for the development of 43.7% of the NMEs [new molecular entities: a drug that does not contain an active moiety previously approved by the Food and Drug Administration]. The United Kingdom, Switzerland, and a few other countries innovated proportionally more than their contribution to GDP or prescription drug spending, whereas Japan, South Korea, and a few other countries innovated less.
>Conclusions. Higher prescription drug spending in the United States does not disproportionately privilege domestic innovation, and many countries with drug price regulation were significant contributors to pharmaceutical innovation.

It's like saying because China manufactures 90% of all cell phones on earth that they are where it is at for innovation, design and cheap products and good wages

you can dodge and weave and cherry pick and make it look that way but in reality the USA system of selling drugs to people VS. the government paying for healthcare and buying drugs that have been established at the cheapest prices possible is how you get innovation.

- European companies funding research in European countries (likely for sale initially in the US)

I'm not denying that it's great that the world has the US healthcare market in regards to funding as pharmaceutical companies know they can buy their way into the market rather than needing governmental approval later down the line, but don't claim they are more innovative them Europe.

Pharmaceutical R&D expenditure is also more in Europe than the US.

It absolutely shouldn't be. They make money by selling your information, and not even information you put forth willingly like Zuckerberg does. Nobody has ever given the companies permission to use their social security number and start a file on them, but they have one on every single one of us.
They know every car you've bought, every place you've lived, every loan you've taken, every time you've ever gotten sick, and as much other personal information as their tentacles can wrap around, and they tie it all to you via the incredibly insecure social security number, something explicitly stated NOT to be used for that purpose when the system was created.
Not only do they not properly secure that information, they're corrupt about that incompetence. I live in Georgia, where Equifax is based. Their headquarters is in the district of Representative Barry Loudermilk, who has received thousands of dollars in donations from them. Six months before they announced the largest leak of identity information in American history, Loudermilk proposed a bill to the House whose only purpose was to put strict limitations on the payouts of class-action lawsuits against credit reporting companies. It only affected credit reporting companies, and it only affected class-action lawsuits, and there was no other content in the bill. After that, company executives sold millions of dollars worth of stock they had in it. Several months later, Equifax suddenly says whoops, somebody stole the identity of every single person we track. All of them. And we track everybody. They set up an insecure website for customers to check if they'd been leaked that was later proven to give random yes or no answers, even if you entered the same info twice. They were caught lying about when they noticed the attack, saying it was after the bill and after the stock trades at first, and were warned the year before that their security was a joke, but never did anything about it.
They were being investigated for all of this in 2017, and then Mick Mulvaney, who Trump appointed to replace the guy in charge of the investigation, cancelled it. Two execs got fired with no jail time. There are no consequences for this shit, ever, and it is taken advantage of every day. Everyone was angry for two days, then forgot.

Nope not really. American impact on high (or non-pop, if you prefer) culture ended with Pynchon (non-lite Pynchon), DFW, Kubrick, and Kaczynski.

actually it is, you lied and said:
>They make money by selling your information, and not even information you put forth willingly like Zuckerberg does. Nobody has ever given the companies permission to use their social security number and start a file on them, but they have one on every single one of us.

I see it, I just enjoy being a dick and don't want to concede to being kind toward idiots who can't manage their lives
>you and I can avoid debt personally
>(I don't have any either, despite what you're assuming)
That assumption came from the message I was responding to, where you (apparently hypothetically) said you are six figures in debt
>but the fact is we live in a country where the economy is driven by pushing our generation to accrue as much debt as possible and keep it as long as possible.
I believe you, but I also haven't personally seen any evidence on this so not gonna say anything here, other than this seems to be very accurate
>Who's doing the pushing? People who profit by keeping the middle class in debt slavery, where they can't move away or move up in life because they can't pay shit off.
That's why people are retarded. The retards that incur gargantuan amounts of debt in a short period of time are the last people I'll feel bad for. College is a scam, certifications and some hard fuckin work go significantly farther than a college degree ever will
>it's reprehensible to defend that system even if you can personally avoid falling victim to it yourself.
I'm not defending it, I think going in any direction would be better than what we have currently. But at the same time I think people need to stop being retarded and expecting shit from the government. At any given time, I have between 20-50 thousand dollars in my own reserves in case of an emergency. I don't allow my four different reserves of cash to dip below a collective 20K and for a few years I had upwards of 50K, currently at 46K- point is, i can afford to have a baby if I chose to (assuming I ever wanted to fuck a women), instead of expecting having a kid to be free. If you have sex with a women and can't afford to finance anything that might come out of that interaction, then you shouldn't be having sex. I think we've neglected to teach forethought and that being in a financial rut is the fault of the person
>Americans assume that every other country has the same lifestyle, and they are wrong. There are ways to fix this, but nobody able and willing to make the changes.
I agree, it's shitty the position we've found ourselves in. I think all of American politics is ridiculous and I hate both parties immensely

Depends on the kind of account. If you just open a standard checking/savings account with no line of credit, then you report your SSN, but if you don't get any kind of loan from the bank your info will never be in Equifax's hands.

Yeah, if you apply for a credit card then your SSN is taken definitely. I'm not the dude who is defending Equifax btw. They are one of many centralized finance capitalist institutions that have become key to swimming in the seas of the globo-gayplex. There are definitely ways to manage your risks, but aside from gradual effective public perception changes (a war you are probably not prepared to engage in), or praying for a paradigm change top down, there's very little to be done about it as an individual. If you're willing to risk being branded a heretic you can try to collectively challenge the status quo, but you're not doing that by tipping over trash cans along side the sons of senators and larping about anarcho-communism.

I moved to Canada and ended up chasing the dragon to replace the endorphins I stopped being able to produce after Afghanistan.

I was living almost exactly like you, but I couldn't even work because I was hiding from CBP far, far beyond the 180 days allotted by my passport. After running out of dope and switching to choking down kratom to stay alive, I just started writing. I'm not an intelligent anon. I'm not a talented writer by any stretch of the imagination. But it gave me something to honest to fuck live for. I actually stopped and realized that maybe one day when I'm dead, one single person might read the story I tried to create and maybe just enjoy a little bit of it.

Imagine being able to give somebody the comfort and escape we look for in paperbacks. Imagine somebody looking at your name on the cover and turning a page. How would you feel if somebody emailed you one day and said, "Hey, I just want you to know you're my favorite author and I really enoyed Anon's Book of Sad Bullshit."
