11997056 No.11997056[DELETED]  [Reply] [Original]

I'm struggling in uni at 25, live with parents, no interests nor hobbies, and I don't know what to do with life.

Can you guys recommend insightful books that might help?

I've read Man's Search for Meaning but idk how to apply the teachings in my way of thinking.

Thanks.

OP, read through this thread of miserable pseuds and if it doesn't convince you to leave 4chan I'm afraid you won't make it. As for myself my IQ is high enough that I am immune to heteronomy. Your parents are more than likely terrible human beings so if you want to do anything of significance you must immediately direct all your energies toward independence.

To me it seems that you are well aware of your situation and that you want to change. I am sure that there is something you have in mind,an insight or a timid thought. My advice would be to stop reading and start writing, literally. Get a pen and paper, state your problem, and write down what you think would be the best solution. The trick here is to depersonalize. Imagine that Mr. X or Ms. X has a problem P. What should be done so that P is resolved? It is your life, your problems, therefore it you who gives the solutions as well. The seed in you has grown enough, let it spring up. Let thoughts become actions.

I'm just conflicted because I NEED a relatively good job that I'm okay working with, but I also can't live as a peasant while doing something I love.

Either way, I'll take a course in psych and see how I like it.

Again, this interest I have is really faint. I don't really care, all I want to do is enjoy life and do different things.

I'd suggest this might be the problem. Assuming you haven't tried it already, I'd recommend moving somewhere else and ideally doing something completely different. Teaching English in Asia worked for me- it's easy to be a very different person when you're in a very different context.

Contextual hierarchies and identity necessitated by social bonds. Actualization is impossible within confined hierarchies. Reinterpret data and work towards greater agency. The heiracries are probably subconscious and reinforced through bodily and spoken language, so you'll need about three months at most. Austerity, fasting, boredom, and practicing social vulnerability in order to see yourself more clearly in other's eyes. Start small, with idolizing someone with the strength and tenacity to do what is difficult.

What are you studying instead? Seems strange to assume that because a lot of people do it, you'd have to. There are a range of jobs which require very specific degrees (eg law and medicine) and/or specific maths skills. Outside of those specific areas, you should be able to get most jobs with any kind of degree.

Also, what's terrible about being 'in business' (very vague concept, covers all kinds of things). If you don't have any burning career passions, one strategy is to go for enough earnings to be comfy/enjoy life, and business is one way of doing that. Works for me so far, anyway
