Anna Karenina kept me more interested. In War & Peace Tolstoy spends a lot of time talking about the situation surrounding Napoleon's invasion of Russia, and he also talks about historical determinism a lot. Anna Karenina keeps its focus on the characters in the story, which I preferred.

They're both meh. War and Peace spends too much time with Pierre being boring, and Anna Karenina too much time with Levin being boring. Their arcs are too similar. Similarly boring. I liked the Levin and Kitty romance though.

They're both okay books. Honestly, probably equally okay. There are other books that I like a lot more, though.
