That's pretty interesting, anon. It's one of those books that I've heard referenced a bit, but people haven't recommended reading it. I'd like to read it at some point. Why did you start reading it, and is it any fun? Do you have any particular edition of it that you would recommend?

I started reading it because it is such an influential book in Christian literature, and it is actually pretty fun to read. In one respect, it reads like a comfy fantasy story, in another, it's a powerful and serious allegorical story of Christian life. I can't comment on a preferred edition to read, sorry. I only found a PDF online and read from that.

You are, especially OP, the scourge of this website. You are the parasitic, fungal infection that lies in this board's dank recesses. For what purpose do you see it fit to post these absurdly improbable temptresses - of only average or mediocre attractiveness, I might add - who are artificially posed in front of a camera, in order to satiate the desires and fantasies of men with a barely tenable grasp on reality or implausible notions about the female sex? What possible benefit could it bring you, knowing that you causing other male men browsing this board to feel the pang of self-destructive attraction for an intangible, incorporeal idea of a non-existent woman, a mirage behind which is only the darkness of vanity and lust? Does it please you to bring noble men who seek the values of temperance and, perhaps, abstinence through their pursuits of the higher medium of literature - to bring these men into your incontinent pit of desire and despair? These jezebels, disguising themselves through these unassuming garments, initiate heightened destruction in their paradoxical image of modesty and licentiousness, demure and wantonness, the Siren song implausibly co-existing with the festering underbelly of rank lechery. If you be not of the Devil's party, restrain your desire, and do not further publish their images to convert these men to such dispositions of your current, sorrowful state. These images are merely fancy, they have no correspondence in reality, nor correlation to the human.

Pic related, also I just got back in my hometown and I sacked the public library.

Picked up some eleven or twelve books, I'm pretty hyped about the Heidegger ones I managed to find - the course on Parmenides, the essay on the Origin of the Work of Art and the Bremen and Freiburg Lectures. It's gonna be fun.

Though few read Marius these days, I think it's an incredible work..
Though few read Cornford, he's a remarkably clear expositor- his books on nature and on art are good as well.
The Jung is the middle child of two other alchemical Jung collections, Psychology and Alchemy and MC- both of which are interesting. Though I'm no Jungian, I've kept my copies of all three.
Good fare, anon.

Yeah, I wasn't sure which one to get. Did I get the right one? Should I have started with a different one?

>> No.11992980

No, I think youre fine. MC is supposed to be his Magnum Opus but really it's just a continuation of the thematic style studies in the volume you have. All three are similarly packed with pics and illustrations and good bibliigraphies.
