Please don’t compare Kissinger to serial killers, you’re doing him a favor.

The Unabomber Manifesto is unironically really interesting reading.

There's also Serial Killers: The Method and Madness of Monsters, which attempts to get into the actual psychological profiling of serial killers, coming up with a sort of system for classifying their methodologies and reasoning thereof but it suffers from the classic problem of being an early work in a developing field and has been superseded somewhat.

Serial killing is just another term for "recreational murder"

Modern Western society is built around the premise that you are not only entitled to have fun, to feel pleasure, but it is your purpose for being

The only caveat is that your happiness can't impinge on that of others, but if they don't really notice then it's not so bad

People get fed this belief from a young age, and that's how we get serial killers. Everybody on some level occasionally experiences the urge to hurt or attack others, even if you're a complete doormat who bottles up their anger. Serial killers are just people who can't control themselves

We tell people that everything is permissible, present potential serial killers with the ample opportunity for recreational murder, and then get upset when they satisfy their impulses and demand for newer and harder novelties (perversions)

Notice that with the rise of the gay lifestyle serial killing has declined? Notice, further, the overrepresentation of homosexual behaviors among serial killers? I think there's something here. Modern societies have found a way to funnel homosexual urges in a financially lucrative and morally acceptable lifestyle, which wasn't the case during the decadence of mid-late 20th century America.

serial killers when writing about their crimes after being caught are mostly bullshitting to make themselves sound scary, sympathetic, intellectual, important, innocent etc

They get high from it and are addicted. Nothing will ever match it.
