They agree to meet.
The woman dies in a car accident as soon as she sees him across the street from her.

Two years after someone else contacts him with the same reason, he agrees to meet but this time in an empty lot.
The other man dies of a heart attack as soon as the protagonist enters the lot.

2 years after calls start arriving from across the world all by people who claim to have seen the protagonist in their dreams, all driven by a compulsion to see him.
