Be careful reading Zinn now that the movie "Lady Bird," has identified those who read him as being pretentious, cigarette-rolling, cell phone spurning hipsters contemptuous of pop rock ballads and overtly cynical about relieving a young woman of her virginity, in the wrong environment it could be like reading Celine in a synagogue.

Things I've bought in the past month or so. So far all I've read out of these is Germinal, and about a third of Berlin Alexanderplatz. The French Iliad copy was a gift from a friend who got it in Morocco, I'm still learning French.

Goddamn phone making everything sideways.
To french anons, does this seem like a good translation? It's by Charles-René-Marie Leconte de L'Isle. Clearly prose, which I don't like for the english Homer I've read. I guess it doesn't matter much if I'm just using it to learn. I'm also going through La Peste and Les Fleurs du Mal when I get the chance, probably La Peste first as it'll be the simplest and the closest to the vernacular I've learned in classes.
