Any books to get into screenwriting? I wrote some plays for theater, but I want to get better at it. Which books do you reccomend?

Read as many scripts as possible. They're quick and don't take much effort. You can find a lot online for free.

Just remember that you aren't the director.

You're not Shane Black or Tarantino so don't write your scripts like them.

I'm Jewish and one of my scripts is in the top 20 this month on the blacklist. I've never gotten a dime for my writing.

It's about who you know and who your parents are, not whether or not you have a foreskin

Thanks. What do you mean with not to write like Tarantino or Black?

some directors literally write screenplay to ease themselves - as they're the one that going to direct 'em.

Don't you mean screenwriters? I directed my plays also (more in the way actors should deliver their lines), but obviously directing a movie is another thing completely.

Op here. Already watched it. I love the Coen brothers. I also like Charlie Kaufmann and Wim Wenders among others.

From Shane Black I only watched The Nice Guys. I thought it was very underrated, one of the few movies recently that made laugh out loud, in the truest sense. So I don't know what could be his thing...

shane black´s thing is reddit humor, avoid that

read screenplays from movies of the 70's and before

remember dialogue is complementary to the story, so it doesn´t have to be realistic or like real life
